Unique Ideas for a Gender Reveal Party

August 11, 2017

A modern-day tradition that adds a ton of fun to finding out if you’re having a baby girl or boy is a gender reveal party. After you’ve attended a couple of these, however, it can be difficult to come up with an idea that hasn’t already been done by a friend or family member! Sure, it’s absolutely adorable to cut into a cake to see if the frosting inside is blue or pink, but some parents are trying even harder to make their gender reveal more unique.

If you count yourself among these parents, here are some unique ideas for your gender reveal party that you may not have thought of!

A game of darts

We’ve all probably seen parents-to-be excitedly open a giant box to reveal whether pink or blue balloons come soaring out. If you still want to use balloons during your reveal but want to kick things up a notch, all you need is a board, some balloons filled with paint and a couple of darts. To keep it a surprise for yourself too, have a trusted friend view the gender results and fill up black balloons with either blue or pink paint, and secure them to the board. When you’re ready for the big reveal, just fire away with the darts and watch the paint spill.

Pink Bows or Free Throws

Big basketball fans? Take a flimsy box and have someone fill it with blue or pink streamers, confetti, etc. Don’t secure with tape – you want it to fold open easily! Open the top of the box and secure each side to the hoop so that the net rests inside and only the bottom is closed up, keeping the colored decorations hidden from view. When you’re ready, shoot! When you score, the weight of the ball will spring the bottom of the box open to reveal the gender!

Color Fun

Ask your guests to wear white outfits (that they don’t mind getting a little messy) and give everyone a powder bomb. Have a photographer standing by, and release the powder on the count of three! Not into the powder idea? The same can be done by filling squirt guns with blue or pink paint and letting loose!

At the end of the day, no matter if you’re covered in pink or blue paint or snacking on pink or blue candies, all that matters is a happy, healthy baby and mom.
